Welcome to the Whisky Galore Tour 2025. After a brilliant but busy Feis Ile 2023 and difficulties arranging Feis accommodation for 2024 and 2025, we decided to return after the 2025 Feis.

There's a new distillery currently under construction on the south east coast of Islay between Port Ellen and Laphroaig.
Elixir Distillers are building Portintruan with sustainability in mind to reduce the impact on the environment.
Construction started in 2020 but building stopped completely in September 2024 when ISG, the construction company,
and its eight subsidiaries entered administration. This photograph from June 2025 shows that some progress
is being made and when I took the photograph there were workers on the roof.
Georgie Crawford, previously at Lagavulin, will be the distillery manager.

The Islay House Community Garden appears to be closed and the door from Islay Square locked. In previous years the garden has been active to a greater or lesser extent but now seems derelict. Aerial photographs show its general layout but there is little organised planting.
